I’m a weather enthusiast who likes to write.

Background

I got the weather gene from my dad, a retired weather forecaster. I’m not sure where my entrepreneurial skills came from. I’m an avid bodyboarder, accomplished waterwoman, naturalist, dog and cat mom, and enjoy backpacking and most outdoor activities. I enjoy learning new stuff and consider myself a naturalist. I’ve worked as an EMT, chef, surf instructor, pet sitter, and faux painter. My heart is with the water though, so I decided to combine all my skills while living on a boat. Being self-sustaining and teaching people about real life stuff on the water are two of my goals.

More of my background: I was a winner in the second Red Bull Project Swell Surf Forecasting contest and I’m currently enrolled in Penn State’s Weather Forecasting certificate program. Credentials are important, especially since I will do weather forecasting from the boat. I was in the Marine Tech program at Cape Fear Community College and followed that up with the Captains Course so I could prepare for boat life. Safety will always be at the forefront of everything I do.

“We need the tonic of wildness...At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”
Henry David Thoreau
